TriStar K-9 Obedience

  • What are the advantages of boarding and training?

Boarding and training programs offer several benefits. Your dog receives intensive training from a professional for multiple hours daily, ensuring faster results. The immersive learning environment provides a controlled setting where every decision is guided, which can be therapeutic for many dogs. This approach reduces stress on owners by allowing professionals to handle the challenging early stages and repetitive aspects of training. The extended time spent with your dog enables us to develop highly customized strategies, particularly beneficial for behavioral cases. Additionally, all boarding and training packages include lifetime support, meaning we're available to assist with any training-related issues at no extra cost.
  • What is behavioral training?

Behavioral training is an in-home program designed to address specific behavior issues and provide a comprehensive training curriculum for your dog. We focus on correcting problems such as excessive barking, aggression, counter surfing, trash raiding, chewing, digging, jumping, nipping, chasing, growling, whining, and anxiety. Additionally, we work on improving car manners. Our approach is tailored to each dog's individual needs, ensuring long-term success in managing and modifying unwanted behaviors.
  • What kind of dogs do you train?

Our training services are comprehensive and inclusive, catering to dogs of all breeds. We have the expertise and experience to work with any type of dog, regardless of size, age, or specific breed characteristics.
  • How long is your boarding and training program?

We offer flexible boarding and training programs to suit various needs. Our standard options include two-week and three-week programs. For cases requiring more intensive intervention, we provide a six-week program specifically designed for severe behavior modification or protection training.
  • What type of training do you do?

Our training methodology combines positive reinforcement with negative reinforcement techniques. We utilize positive training methods to teach desired behaviors, encouraging dogs to understand what they should do. Conversely, we employ negative reinforcement to discourage unwanted behaviors, helping dogs learn what not to do. This balanced approach ensures comprehensive and effective training outcomes.
  • Can I visit my dog during training?

While I will never tell you that you cant see your dog, I will caution you on the effects of doing so. If a dog sees his people and then they leave again, some dogs will become stressed and regress in training.
  • What will my dog learn while away at training?

We teach your dog to sit, stay, down stay, come when called no matter what; on leash or off leash, a place command, walk on a loose leash without pulling and dragging. They also learn to wait at doors until you tell them ok and to not just dart out the door. While here, we will also work on socialization, jumping, nuisance barking, nipping, and any other kind of negative behavior you are experiencing.
